J. Arthur ("Artie") Eaves is a senior owner and partner in the well-known Sanders and Parks law firm. According to his bio, he specializes in defending doctors, hospitals, and other providers in malpractice cases. He also represents government clients and had a long association with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office previously in his career, including a notable stint representing Maricopa County in the Milke wrongful prosecution death penalty case. According to a Phoenix New Times article, he was selected as part of the transition team for ill-fated Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel.
Eaves served as part of Refaat Reed Ishak's legal "Dream Team" alongside Larry Cohen and the one and only David Stoll. Ishak's troubles before the veterinary board are the stuff of legend, involving several malpractice findings spaced out over several years. Most of them were rolled into an omnibus board order that effectively reduced Ishak's practice to in-home euthanasias through Valley Vet Care.
